If you have a hankering to find out what life was like for a 19th century mercury miner, or just fancy a Sunday doing something a bit out of the ordinary, the event is on the horizon. It is happening on December 7th, 2025, right in the backyard of the Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum in New Almaden, offering a relaxed glimpse into a bygone era without all the actual hard labor.

You can expect a selection of mining era activities, a few games, some crafts, and even a bit of live music to set the scene. There is a replica mine tunnel to explore, which is likely far less dusty than the real thing, and you can try your hand at panning for what they refer to as precious gemstones. It is open to all ages, so everyone can join in, and it will not cost you anything to attend.
